The soft lamplight cast dancing shadows on the wall. Juno was snuggled deep under a cozy blanket. A little breeze whispered through the open window. It smelled of sweet grass and nighttime flowers.
Outside, the moon peeked from behind a sleepy cloud. It was a perfect night for quiet wonders. Juno heard a gentle rustle from the garden. It sounded like something very small moving.
Juno tiptoed to the window. Peeking out, Juno saw the old willow tree. Its long branches swayed like a sleepy dancer. And beneath it, something tiny glowed softly.
It was a little dragon! Smaller than a kitten, with scales the color of moss. A very shy little dragon, with big, round, golden eyes. It was trying to hide behind a rose bush.
The little dragon looked a bit wobbly. Its tiny wings fluttered uncertainly. It kept bumping into the rose leaves. It seemed to be trying to find something.
Juno saw a beautiful, smooth river stone. It was sparkling in the moonlight. The little dragon kept reaching for it. But it was just out of reach.
Juno thought for a moment. Then, very slowly, Juno opened the window a tiny crack. Juno reached out a gentle hand. Juno picked up the shiny stone.
Juno held the stone out carefully. The little dragon watched with wide eyes. It blinked a few times. Then, it very gently took the stone.
The little dragon’s scales shimmered with thanks. It made a happy, soft purring sound. It tucked the stone safely under its wing. Then, it snuggled down under the willow tree.
Juno felt a warm, happy feeling inside. A little kindness made such a difference. The little dragon let out a soft sigh. It looked very cozy and sleepy now.
Juno climbed back into bed. The blanket felt extra soft. The little dragon’s gentle purr still echoed in Juno's ears. The moon smiled down through the window.
Juno’s eyelids felt heavy. Sleep was a gentle wave now. Each breath was slow and steady. Dreams were waiting, warm and bright.
